Submission rules

The papers and research projects must be submitted to the following email address: xvicica@occ.pt, according to the rules defined below. The Organising Committee will assume that the submission is known and agreed upon by all the authors.

Papers: Papers should not exceed 8,000 words (approximately 20 pages), including references, abstract, charts and tables. Extended abstracts, with a length of approximately 2,000 words, including references, will also be considered. However, preference will be given to the papers which are received in full from the start.

One person may submit up to three original papers, as a sole author or as a co-author. New to the 16th CICA is the existence of parallel sessions followed by a discussion, carried out by an expert in the area. Papers will only be considered for presentation with a discussant, if the authors express this intention in the submission. Papers not selected for presentation with a discussant, will be presented in normal parallel sessions.

Research projects: Also new to the Congress is the submission of research projects, to be presented in a special session. The purpose of this session is to discuss the research project in order to obtain contributions for its further development. Each research project accepted will be discussed by an expert with research experience on the topic.

Research projects should include problem characterisation, research objectives, literature review, methodology adopted and preliminary or expected results.

Given the nature of this type of work, research projects will not be the subject of any form of publication.

Format of the papers to be submitted

The papers should be sent in two files, MS Word format, A4 page size, 2.5 cm margins, double-spacing, justified text, Times New Roman 12-point font.

First file: should include the title and typology of the work (paper or research project); submission category; abstract, not exceeding 150 words; name, email and authors’ institution; contact author; 5 keywords. Full papers must indicate whether they would like their presentation to be followed by discussion and whether they may be put forward for publication in a Special Issue of the Portuguese Journal of Accounting and Management (Revista de Contabilidade e Gestão).

Second file: must contain the paper, starting with the title and typology of the work and an abstract, not exceeding 150 words. It should not include any type of information that identifies the author(s).

References: the Harvard system must be used.

Evaluation and notification

The papers submitted will be evaluated by two members of the Scientific Committee (double-blind refereeing process).

The contact author will be notified by email of the result of the evaluation by July 10th, 2017.

Authors of accepted abstracts should submit the full version of the paper by July 31st, 2017.

Registration

Papers and research projects will be included in the Congress programme only if the presenter completes the registration, by September 11th, 2017. The same author can not be the only one registered in more than one work.

The formalisation of the registration process should be carried out on the Congress website.

Publication of papers

The full text of the papers included in the Congress programme will be published in digital format, with the ISBN number included.

The best papers selected by the Scientific Committee will be put forward for evaluation and publication in a Special Issue of the Portuguese Journal of Accounting and Management (Revista de Contabilidade e Gestão), dedicated to the 16th CICA. Authors who do not wish their papers to be subject to this evaluation should indicate this in the submission.

"Best Paper at the 16th CICA" Award

The Scientific Committee will select and award the "Best Paper at the 16th CICA” based on the evaluation of the double-blind refereeing process. The winner will be announced at the closing session and the award will be delivered to the authors registered at the Congress.
